Conceived in Canada, born in London, raised in
Sweden, Wales, England and France, David Hofberg has yet to grow up but
has spent most of his adult life in New York. Now single (David enjoys
cooking, moonlit walks and the works of Avril Lavigne) and living a
nomadic life between England and Morocco and the roads that lie between,
he nevertheless does his flawed best to help raise three children.
David has directed music videos, documentaries and
theatre, written plays (including
The Man From Verona) and screenplays (including "Return To Thunder
Ridge", occasionally cited as the best unproduced script in Hollywood),
written and performed (with Stacey Haber Hofberg and The
Cars' Greg Hawkes) the children's song "Se√Īorita Petita, Mr. Woo & His
Book Full Of Wonders", worked in North America, Europe, Africa and Asia,
and continues to develop his semi-legendary project, "Cruel And Unusual:
The Legend Of Boötes Ghuwæ".
As a writer/director, David is in
the autobiographical Hurt Me, to be published and filmed in 2006.
Hurt Me will mark
David's feature film debut as a director and will reunite him with a
number of Une Gazelle Dans Le Vent's
members, although this time in Guildford, England, rather than
As a writer/producer, he is at work on
Song, a sweeping historical epic focusing on the Berber people of North
Africa which is co-written by Wafae El Hakimi.
In 2008, he will produce
the film version of
The Man From Verona with ex-wife Stacey Haber
Hofberg directing. This will be a switch in roles as David directed
the original Off-Broadway version while Stacey produced it!
